Thanks for replying. You are very informed. I'll check those out. I've had postings deleted related to this case and others. A few weeks back I spoke with one of the Sun web editors to ask how they decide what to remove.
I posted on a Sun story earlier this morning about how his defense used the comment boards to make the case that their client was being unfairly shamed in public domains.
Just below is pasted what I wrote to another reader who was commenting on the effectiveness of protesting at Queen's Park compared with signing petitions:
Thanks for the info. I agree it gives the government an idea of how many aren't pleased and that seeing thousands of Ontarians on the law of the legislature can be effective. I've also learned that online forums like this one are followed.
For example, let me share with you that at the recent three day sentencing of Ben Levin (ex-Deputy Minister of Education, member of Kathleen Wynne's Transition Team and OISE faculty) his defense team made reference to the negative comments, "vitrol" was the term they used, posted about their client. They spoke about the number and nature of the posts and the "public shaming" he was put through. They also described how there may not be any recovery from this "condemnation". There was more but suffice to say, reader's comments cannot always be taken lightly.
